Vienna Insurance Group: A Corporate Site for 30 Countries

Vienna Insurance Group, headquartered in Vienna, is the leading insurance group in Central and Eastern Europe. More than 50 insurance companies and pension funds in 30 countries belong to it, and about 34,000 employees serve around 36 million customers.

A group site like this has several audiences at once: investors, journalists, job seekers and the Group’s own companies. Each of them comes for something different, and none of them wants to wade through the others’ content.

Four sections for four audiences

The main menu has only four entries: VIG Inside, Investor Relations, Career and Sustainability. With the Love Spell we let each audience find its own door from the first screen. The home page opens with a slider that gives each of those doors a photograph and a single button, such as Apply now or Your investment in VIG.

Inside, pages share one calm template. A large title on a soft coloured panel, a breadcrumb above it, and then the text, set wide enough to read without strain. Long pages start with an On this page box, so an analyst can jump straight to the strategic targets.

Strategy you can actually read

Corporate strategy pages are often walls of text. The page for the evolve28 strategy splits it into a framework and targets, with a large typographic 28 as the only decoration. The site also comes in German and English, which matters for a group that reports to investors across Europe.

The Creation Spell gives editors one system for press releases, the press calendar, the media library and the board pages, so the Group’s communications team publishes in one place.

On a phone the slider keeps one message and one button per slide, and the long portrait and strategy pages keep their table of contents at the top.

Investors, candidates and journalists each reach their part of the Group in one click, on a site that stays calm however much content sits behind it.
